Insight

The last few weeks have been go-go-go, work, moving into a new house, pushing my climbing harder than ever, and trying to make content in between.

I was feeling it physically and mentally.

My body was beat up and the motivation to GSD (get sh*t done) was low.

I was just barely getting the basics done to keep things rolling.

But, over this past weekend I fully recharged.

My brother got married in Florida, and I took that as an opportunity to reset.

I left current projects, moving headaches, and business worries behind, to give my full attention to the trip.

Although it was only a few days (Friday night to Monday morning) I feel so much better.

Between the quality time with family, actually getting a good night's sleep, and taking a break from the normal running/climbing routine, I feel amazing.

Ready to get after it and hit my unreasonably big goals for the year.

It seems obvious, but when you're in the thick of it, it's sometimes hard to step back to take the rest you need.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is rest.

Resource

Last week I posted a new YouTube video breaking down my entire workflow for a micro documentary project I created last year for Athletic Brewing.

It covers my process from initial pitch to final delivery. If you're interested in creating these types of short docs/branded docs, but don't know where to start, this video is for you.

Action Step

Make a list of things that give you energy vs things that drain it.

How does your calendar stack up? Are there ways you could outsource the draining activities and spend more time on the ones that give you energy?

The goal isn't to eliminate everything that drains you (that's impossible), but to be more intentional about the balance.

Until next week,
Cobi

Intentional Insights August 26th, 2025 Insight Last week's shoot had us sleeping in some pretty crazy spots. Them-a-Rest Fast and Light Production We could point the camera in any direction and still get great shots. I just finished clipping the footage this morning and it reminded me that the best way to get better footage isn't the camera, isn't the lens, or even that fancy new piece of gear or camera technique... It's the location. Over the years I've been on a ton of shoots where we are...

Intentional Insights August 5th, 2025 Insight Last fall I decided to actually try building my online presence. Something I'd dabbled with in the past, but never fully committed to. I knew the power of having a strong online presence from a business sense. It's basically free marketing. There are lots of upsides and very few downsides, except for the time to create the content. As a small video production business owner, getting your name out there and in the circle of people that can hire you...
